This time of year summer storms come rolling across Chester County bringing with them thunder, lightning and many times, hailstorms. Hailstorms can significantly damage your automobile and sometimes be a problem.
There is, however, a fast and cost effective way to repair damage caused by hail. It is called paintless dent removal or PDR. PDR is a relatively
New process for removing and repairing most minor dents and dings caused by hail or other objects. Be sure to check with your auto body shop to see if they have trained technicians who offer this specialized service.
PDR uses specially molded metal tools on the underside of the damaged body part to slowly massage the dent out. By preserving the original factory finish, there is no need for grinding the paint off and filling with bonds, primers or sealers that are used with conventional body repairs, which means PDR is environmentally friendly since it uses no chemicals or other toxins to complete the repair.
Since the original factory paint is preserved there are no problems with matching the original color, which can sometimes be a problem with conventional repairs. PDR repairs are fast and can typically be finished in one business day. They are also less expensive than traditional body work and do not invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.
Mercer Auto Body is fully capable of providing the best in PDR for your vehicle if you get caught in a hailstorm this summer.
