On Sunday, February 7th the 2016 Philadelphia Auto Show came to a close. The annual Philadelphia Auto Show is one of the largest auto shows in the country. This year marked the event’s 115th consecutive appearance and hosted over 250,000 visitors.
The show features preproduction and production models, as well as classic, exotic and concept cars from forty different manufactures. The event influences $3 million in car sales each year; impacting a collective audience of consumers, manufactures and dealers. “Vehicle sales are at an all-time high, interest rates and gas prices are low and we are transitioning to people buying cars because of desire rather than replacement,” stated Kevin Mazzucola, said Executive Director of the Automobile Dealers Association of Great Philadelphia.
Special highlights of this year’s show included the display of the Fiat used by Pope Francis at the World Meeting of the Families last September. The car was auctioned off to a winning bid of $82,000 at the show’s black tie tailgate preview party. In addition, U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team player and Delran, NJ native Carly Lloyd was a guest host of the event.
